The client
Smoon Lingerie was born from a wish: to equip women when they need it most, while respecting their bodies and the planet.
The founder's observation: women have technical clothing for almost every situation, but innovation has done little for them when it comes to periods or pregnancy.
The brief
Design absorbent underwear for menstrual periods. SME supported Smoon from A to Z to bring the project to life.
The challenges
- Choose the technology best suited to the specification, under development time and budget constraints.
- Find materials offering optimal absorption and minimal drying time.
- Identify partners able to bring the project to industrial scale.
Solutions and results
SME supported Smoon in finding material suppliers suited to the specification. The difficulty: creating a supple, super-absorbent composite that can also dry quickly.
Test campaigns were run on several candidate materials:
- final thickness of the absorbent composite, for comfort;
- absorption volumes relative to drying times;
- hypoallergenic and antibacterial materials.
SME then supported Smoon with subcontractors able to produce the prototypes and then series production.
